B4 Using Art, Writing, Fieldwork, Experiments and Rituals in Facilitating and Coaching

As an experienced facilitator or coach, explore five interventions useful for accessing intuitive wisdom and creativity with groups and individuals. Based on Anne and Dale's recent publication, “Facilitative Coaching: A toolkit for Expanding Your Repertoire and Achieving Lasting Results," these proven interventions help you and your clients get to the essence of issues that can be difficult to identify and express. We will guide you in experiencing our interventions and help you create your own. We will also work with the "inner critic" that usually arises when we start to explore new ways of approaching issues.

Anne Davidson is a consultant with Roger Schwarz & Associates. She has over thirty years of experiences as a facilitator, trainer and organization development director. She regularly conducts workshops on facilitation, facilitative leadership and coaching, as well as conference presentations on management team development, creative problem solving and the creation of learning organizations. Her clients include multinational corporations, federal and local government agencies, and non-profit foundations. She is co-author of articles on using facilitation skills in local government settings, a co-editor of The Skilled Facilitator Field Book (Jossey-Bass, 2005), and co-author with Dale Schwarz of Facilitative Coaching (Pfeiffer, 200).

Dale Schwarz is Cofounder of the Center for Creative Consciousness in Sunderland, MA and a licensed art therapist. Since 1976, she has helped people bring forth their unique gifts and creativity through her work as a coach, facilitator and trainer. She works in personal growth settings and with profit and non-profit organizations. A unique aspect of her work is helping people use metaphor and images to enhance communication. She wrote "Making Art of Work" in the Journal for Quality and Participation, co-authored "The Facilitative Coach" in The Skilled Facilitator Field book, and, with Anne Davidson, wrote Facilitative Coaching.
