C6 Making Process Designs “Work”
Level: Experienced Advanced

Ever felt stumped by how to design a workshop or a multi-phase process? In this hands-on session you will explore process design from start to finish while building a design for an upcoming session. We will begin with practical tools for integrating values, mining perspectives, exploring types of power, understanding stakeholder diversity, and developing a process terms of reference. Then we will use a stepwise approach to participants’ cases to block an agenda, confirm the flow, develop metaphors and complete the design. Each participant will receive a complimentary copy of “Process Design: Making it Work” (Jossey-Bass/Wiley) 2008 by Dorothy Strachan.

Presenter:

Dorothy Strachan (Strachan-Tomlinson) has been a process consultant since 1974. Her practice focuses on issues identification and resolution, strategic planning, team development, and customized workshops and training programs on process design and facilitation. Dorothy works in all sectors and particularly enjoys national and international process consulting in health. She is a prolific writer and presenter. The complimentary book being launched at this session, “Making Process Designs Work”, is the second in a three-book series with Jossey-Bass/Wiley.
