F12 The Science and Art of Story-Sharing: Why Story Engages and How to Use It
Level: All Levels

You know intuitively that story offers a powerful and natural way to engage communities. But do you know why it works? How do we process stories, cognitively and emotionally? How do stories relate to the theory and practice of engagement? And how can you use story-sharing to generate engagement and manage diversity? In this participatory workshop, you will: Explore recent research and personal experience to develop an applied understanding of engagement; Deconstruct story structure to discover what makes story engaging; Learn to create stories designed specifically to engage, and; Develop techniques to encourage story-sharing in your practice.
